Being in Therapy

Vision, Mission, &
Cores Values

Vision

Our vision is to empower all people who live outside their home country to look inside themselves and make changes to better their lives. We believe that everyone has the potential to grow and change, and we are committed to providing the tools and support necessary to help people reach their full potential.

Mission

Our mission is to create a protected therapeutic space where people who live outside their home country feel empowered to self-reflect on their past and present, make changes in their current negative thinking, harmful behaviors, and unhealthy relationships, and find happiness in living a meaningful life. We also believe that it is important to create a team of therapists who provide our clients with attentive, empathetic, and reflective partners in the exploration of their lives. We want to meet our clients where they are at, provide them with the tools they need to move forward, and help guide them on a path to feeling better.

Core Values

Our core values are compassion, caring, whole person approach, trust, empowerment, healthy boundaries, and professional duty. We believe that these values are essential to providing quality mental health care to expats, repats, and adult third culture kids.

Compassion & Caring

We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with compassion and care. We strive to create a judgment-free zone where others’ perspectives or situations can be appreciated and understood when they are different from our own. We genuinely care about the other person’s needs and values and make them feel seen, heard, and understood.

Whole Person Approach

We understand that every client has a unique background that makes them who they are today. We actively seek to discover and appreciate the “whole person” – including the biological, social, cultural, psychological, educational, economic, spiritual, and environmental influences on each person’s life.

Trust

We believe that trust is essential to building positive relationships. We establish trust through open and honest communication, treating each other with respect and without judgment, and being consistent in doing what we said we will do. We strive to establish positive, trusting relationships with all of our clients.

Empowerment

We believe that everyone has the power to make changes in their lives. We build relationships where our clients feel comfortable to discover and discuss what they truly want out of life. We help clients identify their strengths and abilities and provide encouragement to reach their goals.

Healthy Boundaries

We believe that setting and communicating healthy boundaries is essential for our health, well-being, and even our safety. Maintaining boundaries gives people a sense of control over their time, body, feelings, and physical space. Modeling healthy boundaries shows our clients the importance of respecting ourselves and our clients, and all people’s need for safety and protection.

Professional Duty

We believe that it is our professional duty to provide competent and effective mental health therapy services to our clients. This includes maintaining the confidentiality of our clients, and abiding by the code of ethics of our profession.
